The Theft Recovery app is intended to be deployed only as a Kiosk app with specific device policies. There are two major pitfalls to avoid during the installation process.
- Under no circumstances should you add the Theft Recovery app to the force install list in User Settings (where you installed the Chromium M and Chromium License). Adding the app to your force install list will push the app to all users within in that OU, which will allow students to use the app to browse the web without any restrictions and create unwanted Theft Recovery sessions.
- When installing the app and configuring device settings, make sure that your Stolen Devices OU is selected, not your domain or a high-level OU. Configuring your domain or a high-level OU will cause all devices in those OUs to switch to Kiosk Mode, launch the Theft Recovery app, and create unwanted Theft Recovery sessions for each device.
