Responding to Text Message Alerts
When Beacon detects that a student is browsing self-harm related content, a notification will be sent to the first user on the Escalation List. If text message notifications are enabled, a text message notification and an email notification will be sent.
Text message notifications will contain a message about the Phase of the behavior (in bold below) and a sign-in link.
Sign in to Beacon
Clicking the embedded link will take you to the sign in page. Sign in to view the Beacon dashboard. The unread alert will appear at the top of the feed with a dark outline (shown below).
The Alert quick view card displays important information about the alert, including the student's primary guardian contact name and phone number for a quick response. Click the Alert card to view the Alert Details view.
To end the escalation list notification cycle, designate a Risk Level for the alert using the dropdown or check at least one item on the list of Actions Taken for this Alert. If one of these actions is not completed within the set Interval Time, the next user on the notification list will be notified. This process will continue until a user checks off an action or sets a Risk Revel.
Verify the Phase Prediction
Once appropriate action has been dispatched, verify Beacon's Phase prediction by clicking the listed Phase and selecting Yes or No. Your feedback will help train and improve Beacon's prediction AI model. Your feedback can be updated at any time.
Dismiss an alert
For archival purposes, alerts cannot be deleted or removed. However, in the event that a student's behavior is miscategorized by Beacon, an alert can be marked as such.
For miscategorized alerts:
- Set the Risk Level to "No Risk"
- Click the Phase and select No (if inaccurate)
Marking an alert as No Risk will end the escalation list cycle.
