Beacon Users
Before a user can be given access to Beacon, they must have an existing account and an assigned Beacon permission level in Org Management. Once the user account is created, they can be added to Beacon by completing the steps below. More information on how to add a user to Org Management can be found here.
Note: Only users with Super User and Super Counselor permissions may add users to a Beacon deployment. If you're listed as a Super User or Super Counselor, but cannot add users to your list, please clear your cache and cookies first.
Add a user to Beacon
Note: Ensure the staff member has an assigned Beacon permission level in Org Management.
- Navigate to Beacon Settings > Users.
- Under Add New User, enter an email address.
- Click Add User.
- Optional - Add the user's cell phone number.
- Optional - Add text message notifications.
- Click Save Changes.
Each user will have the opportunity to edit their cell phone number and text message notification preferences under the “Your Beacon Profile” setting.
Note: Text and Email notifications will only be sent to users on the Escalation List.
Once a user has been added, you will have the option to send them a welcome email containing information about the Beacon deployment.
Managing Existing Beacon Users
When adding a user to a deployment, Super Users will have the option to edit the permission level and phone number of the user. The Existing Users section contains all users who currently have access to Beacon, their email, and their permissions.
- Navigate to Beacon Settings > Users
- Click Edit to the left of the user
- Make any necessary changes to:
- Cell Phone Number
- Permissions
- Notification Preferences
- Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page
Delete a User
Super Users and Super Counselors may remove other users from a Beacon deployment but it will not remove their account from Org Management.
To delete a user from Beacon:
- Navigate to Beacon Settings > Users
- Click Edit to the left of the user
- Scroll down, then click Delete User
To completely disable an account, send a request to your Super User.
