After you have discussed whether or not to notify students when they access self-harm or suicide-related content, a Super User or Super Counselor can toggle whether or not to notify students.
Note: This feature is set to "Off" by default.
Time of Day
If Student Messaging notifications are turned on, decide whether or not notifications should be sent during the following time periods, when alerts are generated:
- During School
- After School
- Always (both during and after school)
As a reminder, School Hours are defined by a Super User or Super Counselor under Beacon Settings > School Hours
You can also modify the message that is sent to your students. Below is the default message sent to students, approved by the American Association of Suicidology:
It seems like you might be having thoughts of suicide. We want you to know we care about you and want to help. If you’d like to speak with someone right now, just call the suicide prevention hotline: 1-800-273-8255 or text HOME to 741741. You can also visit https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org for more resources. Please consider reaching out to your parents, school counselors, friends, or someone else you trust as well.
