If you’re experiencing issues with controlling student browsing during an active classroom session, your student may be stuck in another teacher’s session. But thanks to Scene Statuses you’re back in control of your session for all students! Read on to see how this works.
When one or more students are unable to browse like the rest of the classroom (either able to access more than they should or not as much as they should), chances are their browsing is being controlled by another teacher’s session and Scene.
When a student is in a session, the Scene status icon in the top-right corner will clue you into one of the following scenarios:
- The current teacher's active scene (you’re in control of the student’s browsing restrictions, and the name of your Scene will be visible)
- Another teacher's active scene (another teacher is in control of that student’s browsing restrictions)
- No active scene (student is free to browse as desired)
Scene Statuses will also be viewable in Timeline View:
When in a session, the most recently applied Scene will take control of what a student can browse. But, what if a student gets stuck in the previous session while showing up in yours? Let’s look at the easiest ways to fix this without a lot of hassle.
Scenario 1: No Scene is applied by you
If you do not have a Scene applied, and students are still being restricted, it could indicate that the Scene from the prior teacher's class is applying. If so, you’ll see a banner at the top of the screen that lets you clear all Scenes for your students in your active session. Click “Clear Scene” to remove all Scenes from students in your active class session.
Scenario 2: You’ve applied a Scene that isn’t working for all students
If your scene is applied, but some students still have different restrictions, you’ll see a banner with the option to refresh your Scene for all students in your active session. Click “Refresh Scene” to apply your Scene to all students in your active class session.
The Current Scene name, if any, will always be displayed over the Change Scene button.
Note: Scene statuses will not appear if students are not in a Scene.
