Flagged activity can be configured to send automated emails when flagged activity is generated by monitored user browsing behavior. Due to the vast amount of flagged activity that can be generated by some accounts (some larger school districts can generate upwards of 50,000 alerts per day), notifications options are limited.
When will Emails be sent as notifications?
Each user can configure when they will receive flagged activity emails based on severity levels calculated for each instance of flagged activity.
Due to the vast amount of emails flagged activity can generate and in an effort to avoid being flagged by global email entities as a source of SPAM emails, GoGuardian has limited the number of emails admins receive per day.If 10 emails have been received in the past 24 hours, admins will not receive any further emails. Here are the rules for the number of emails admins can receive:
- 1 email per 10 minutes
- 5 emails per 1 hour
- 10 email per 24 hours
Severity levels are calculated based on the individual terms that are flagged as well as the frequency or incidence of flagged activity and the "weight" of the individual terms combined on a single webpage. If a single webpage has 20+ terms that are flagged as low severity for example, that flagged activity can still be considered High Severity, although all of the terms are considered "low" severity.
To edit the types of flagged activity emails should be sent for, navigate to https://admin.goguardian.com > Flagged Activity > Notification Settings to arrive at the screen below:
The options here are:
- No Notifications - admin won't receive any notifications for flagged activity
- All - sends an email for all types of flagged activity threat levels
- High and Medium Severity - sends an email if a flagged activity's threat level is considered medium or high threat level
- High Severity - sends an email if a flagged activity's threat level is considered high severity only
Admins will only receive notifications for flagged activity which has occurred within OUs that the admin has OU access for in Org Management at manage.goguardian.com
NOTE: Although a flagged term may be considered "low" severity, if there are many instances of "low" severity flagged terms on a single webpage, that webpage may be considered medium or even high severity.
